BEASTIARIUM #1 Medusa

BEASTIARIUM #1 Medusa

Medusa was the most famous Gorgon in the Ancient Greece. She was a beautiful maiden that was cursed by the Goddess Athena to become what we all know today as the “Monster that has the body of a woman, the tail of a serpent, hair made of snakes, and the ability to turn to stone anyone who looked in her eyes”.

Her “crime” was that she was sexually violated in Athena’s temple by the God Poseidon. This piece of art, is a tribute to the victims that are blamed and made to suffer for someone else’s crimes.

The “BEASTIARIUM” Series

This is a series inspired by my fascination for Cryptozoology, mythical creatures, and urban legends. The collection started as an attempt to create a mythical book on beasts. Illustrating such a large project will be a life-long endeavour, so I decided to release the illustrations individually.
